New Pharmacy Benefit Partner
Medical Associates Health Plans (MAHP) is pleased to announce a new partnership with MagellanRx Management, Inc. that will replace MedImpact, the current pharmacy benefit provider. MagellanRx will begin processing your pharmacy benefit claims beginning October 1, 2016.
 
There will be no change to your prescription coverage or the pharmacies that you can utilize, however, you must use new identification cards beginning October 1, 2016—which will be mailed to you in mid-September.
 
Formulary changes—if you will need to make a change in medication due to a formulary change, you will be contacted via letter from MAHP shortly after 9/1/2016 with specific instructions.
 
Retail Pharmacy Prescriptions
Effective October 1, 2016, your pharmacist will electronically connect with MagellanRx toverify eligibility, co-payments and drug safety – such as drug-to-drug interactions and inappropriate usage. After the prescription is approved, the pharmacist completes your order and collects your copay.
 
Mail Order and Specialty Pharmacy
Effective October 1, 2016, Magellan Rx will begin processing all mail order prescription requests and all specialty pharmacy prescriptions. MAHP has arranged for your current mail order and specialty prescriptions to be transferred to Magellan Rx. Some prescriptions, such as controlled substances and compound medications, may not be transferred. If you have a Mail Order or Specialty prescription, you will receive notification and additional directions—if you have concerns, please feel free to contact our office.
 
If you experience any issues at the pharmacy, either you or the pharmacy may call us at the number listed on the back of your card. This phone number is staffed 24-hours per day, seven days per week.
