Medical Associates Health Plan Receives Highest Medicare Rating for Fifth Consecutive Year
October 21, 2015 --Dubuque, IA -- Medical Associates Iowa/Illinois Medicare Plan once again earned a 5-star rating for 2016, the highest overall rating for quality and service, from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This marks the fifth consecutive year Medical Associates has received a 5-star rating. Medical Associates Wisconsin Medicare Plan also earned a 5-star rating for 2016. Only 13 other medical plans in the nation received 5 stars.
CMS developed the Medicare Star Quality Ratings to help beneficiaries compare plans and identify those who consistently deliver high quality care and service. One to five stars are given, based on how well a Medicare plan performs in up to 32 measures that rate wellness promotion, immunization, disease prevention, treatment of chronic illness, customer service, and responsiveness to members. A 5-star Medicare plan is identified by CMS as providing high quality and value for Medicare beneficiaries.
The 5-star Medicare rating is a reflection of Medical Associates Health Plans’ long time commitment to its members and to the community. Members have convenient access to local customer service, quality improvement, disease management, claims processing, and a 24-hour nurse phone line.
“Earning a 5-star rating for the fifth year in a row is a tremendous achievement and demonstrates our success in keeping our senior members healthy and active,” stated John Tallent, Chief Executive Officer of Medical Associates Clinic & Health Plans. “We work diligently to provide high-quality, patient-centered care that is consistent with the highest nationally accepted standards. Having our Iowa/Illinois and Wisconsin plans recognized in the top 15 in the entire nation demonstrates that Medical Associates is truly one of the best Medicare plans in the country.”
In addition to high-quality care and service, another benefit of a 5-star plan is that Medicare beneficiaries may change their health plan to Medical Associates through the 5-star special enrollment period from Dec. 8, 2015, to Nov. 30, 2016, without having to wait until the next annual open enrollment period.
