Psychiatry & Psychology Child Subspecialty
The Department of Psychiatry offers a comprehensive subspecialty in the assessment and treatment of children with mental health and behavior concerns. To assist in finding the best provider for your child, we have provided a summary of specialized services offered by each member of our child subspecialty team.
- Adib Kassas, MD
Specializes in diagnostic assessment, monitoring of mental health status and progress, and medication management with children ages 2 – 17; Areas of special interest with children include mood disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and general psychiatric care.
- Sarah Justmann, ARNP
Provides diagnostic assessment, monitoring of progress, and medication management for children ages 4 – 17; Areas of special interest with children include mood disorders and general psychiatric disorders.
- Thomas M. Ottavi, PhD
Provides assessment and treatment for youth ages 7 – 17; Assessment interests include autism spectrum disorders and ADHD. Areas of special interest for treatment with children include social skills development, anger management, mood and anxiety assessment and management, and treating traumatic event responses.
- Aaron Whitney, PhD
Provides assessment and treatment for youth ages 5 – 17; Areas of special interest with children include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma and abuse disorders, reactive attachment disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and child-parent counseling for behavioral issues. Provides comprehensive psychological testing for adolescents, including assessments for personality, ADHD, cognitive, and learning disorders.

The Dubuque Health Plaza is located adjacent to Mercy Hospital on the east end, across from the Mercy parking ramp. Our office entrance is located on the 2nd floor, across from the elevators.
