"We were late to the appointment due to an accident in Galena right before the bridge which caused a 10 min delay. My husband called for me saying we would be 10 min late- I am here from Boston taking care of my mom after her home had a fire and then we have this sore on her leg as well. They said well it would be up to the doctor if she wanted to see us. We were 10 min late to the appointment - it was my error in calculating in 10 min to get her up there with severe mobility issues. At that time they said the doc would see her. Which she did - for 10 min, said more than once we were late- which I totally acknowledge! But then don't have us in there for 10 min and reschedule anyway. she billed for the appointment and we have to go back. It is a lot to bring someone of age to an appointment - it is an hour and a 1/2 procedure to get them ready and there. They should have cancelled when my husband called and said to reschedule because to go through all of that to be told you were late for your 30 min appointment and I can't do anything. Again, I totally understand that the doctors day is booked- I don't expect special treatment- but I also don't expect her to be rude about it. It was out of my control, we called!! Also you never know what someone is going through- I have been here away from my home in Boston taking care of her for 4 weeks- I am exhausted, she is scared and anxious. I just think a little empathy would go a long way. She could have easily have seen us and say unfortunately we will have to do another appointment because I don't have time today. That is way better than you have to make a new appointment because you were 20 min late. Again I can't stress this enough- WE CALLED! she acted like I was late because I was having coffee- not spending that past 2 hours getting my mom. Ready and transporting her to a doc appointment. I made sure we communicated to them out of respect for her time/ and then was treated like I just showed up expecting to her to be seen. That was not the case. An experience like that stays with elderly people for the day and their caregivers are the ones who have to calm them down."

Felt a phone call could've been made instead of an office visit. If it was not broken as bad as acute implied , why were xrays and a follow up needed?"

"The provider was courteous and did give me some useful guidance about my pincer nails and adjusting the lacing on my walking shoes. However, I was disappointed with the communication during and after the visit. After the appointment, I saw plantar fasciitis listed as an encounter diagnosis in my visit notes, along with instructions to ice for heel pain, but I do not remember plantar fasciitis or those treatment recommendations being discussed during the appointment. When I sent a follow-up message asking for clarification, the response was very brief and did not directly answer whether plantar fasciitis is considered an active diagnosis for me. I would have appreciated clearer communication about all diagnoses, what they mean, and what treatment plan I should follow before discovering that information in the portal. I left feeling that the written notes were more thorough than the actual conversation, which was frustrating."

"When I saw Dr Hughes at first she was quick, straight to the point and didn't want to listen to what I had to say at first and I had to back track and have her listen to me since I'm the patient, I wouldn't be going to someone if I wasn't feeling any pain and then she calmed down and finally listened and walked me through what I have and treatments to do for my feet, it was a successful meeting in the end but in my opinion she should improve on her bedside manner and take time to listen to her patients and not be so curt with them"

I told her my Mom just got out of the hospital with pneumonia and has congestive heart failure so it was too hard for her to get out of the wheelchair today. She barely talked to my mom when she cut her four toenails. The rest of my Mom's toenails have been removed so she only has to cut four toenails. The whole appointment with the doctor was under five minutes and she said we could take the form out to the front desk and make a follow up appointment. I feel she shouldn't treat people like this especially the older population who are more vulnerable and have multiple health issues. You never know what is going on with your patients and I feel the doctor should be there to help others and not complain about themselves. "I had a really sore toe. It was hard to tell exactly where all the pain was coming from. She did an ingrown toenail on the one side, but did not look at the other side. And I fear that the other side is just as much part of the problem. So I still have the same pain, but only more so on the other side. So I was not completely, so I still have the same problem as when I was there. Thank you."
