Dr. Michael Peroski, a medical doctor specializing in psychiatry, has been practicing at Medical Associates since 2018. He is the Department Chairman of Psychiatry and Psychology at Medical Associates Clinic, the Department Chairman of Psychiatry at MercyOne Dubuque, the Director of Brain Health for the MercyOne Mobile Medical Unit, Medical Director of MercyOne Clinton Psychiatry, Medical Director of the MercyOne Partial Hospitalization Program, and the Medical Director of Turning Point Treatment Center.
He specializes in psychopharmacology and is experienced in treatment of resistant brain health conditions, substance use disorders, electroconvulsive therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, neuropsychiatry, anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, and psychotic disorders. He treats the full spectrum of psychiatry conditions from patients aged 12 and older.
He received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and philosophy from Allegheny College with honors, where he also received several awards, including being one of ten students to receive the prestigious Allegheny Cornerstone Award. He was selected to spend his junior year at Oxford University, UK where he studied economics and philosophy. He received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received the LECOM Excellence in Research Award for his work on the neuroanatomy of the human hypothalamus. Dr. Peroski completed his residency at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt, where he was the executive chief resident, chief resident in emergency psychiatry, and chief resident of consult liaison psychiatry. There he also received the George U Balis Award for excellence in medical student education; the Mark Eherenreich Award for excellence in consultation liaison psychiatry and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Society for excellence in humanism in medicine, among other awards.
Dr. Peroski is board-certified in psychiatry and medical quality and is a Board-Certified Physician Executive. He received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Dubuque. He is currently enrolled in a Master of Communications Management from the University of Dubuque, and a Doctor of Healthcare Administration from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Peroski has published and given lectures on numerous topics including psychopharmacology, depression, anxiety, dementia, seasonal affective disorder, brain stimulation, decisional capacity, mood disorders, and psychosis. He currently teaches at the University of Maryland Psychiatry Residency, University of Iowa Psychiatry Residency, and Des Moines University Psychiatry Residency. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Behavioral Medicine at Des Moines University and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Dubuque.
He serves on several boards and committees at MercyOne Dubuque and Medical Associates as well as serving as the Chair of Standards and Economics for the Iowa Psychiatric Society and the President-Elect of the MercyOne Dubuque Medical Staff.
