"I just found it odd that he came in sat down didn't acknowledge who he was or say good morning to me. My main concern after the visit after he just checked, he did not do a visual exam. I did call back. I've talked to the receptionist and she informed me that they only check your vision every two years. I just find that odd if I'm paying for an eye exam. I would prefer to have a visual exam done at the same time. Just my thoughts. Thank you"

"My history with Medical Assoc Op is long; docs, techs, assistants, and receptionists have come and gone, but the vibe, generous and gentle and professional, has always remained the same. Yesterday's assistant was young and new, but she was personable and so sweetly careful. I worked with two specialty techs, both seasoned and efficient and wonderfully chatty enough to make it a breeze. The dreaded field vision test made sense to me for the first time, at the direction of a calming and really knowledgeable tech who explained how it worked and cheered me on. I loved that she took the time to do that. My doc has the undisputed skill to know what's going on with my eyes and better yet, the quiet easy "people skills" to talk to me about it without freaking me out. He was born to do this; he has the best ears in the business ("look right at my ear"). Yesterday, the Halloween vibe could be felt everywhere and it was delightful. This is a group that presents as a well oiled machine, who actually like each other and understand that good service to patients can also come with a healthy dose of joy and laugher. Kudos to this department. They are spectacular."

"I had to wait a good 6 months or more to get an appointment and if I didn't take the appointment in the galena office I would have had to wait longer and the Dr wanted to see me back in 8 weeks to check something in my eye and I thought certainly I could get in in Dubuque for that appointment but when the person called with the date and time that was in Galena and when I asked if I could see him in Dubuque no they said I would have to wait 10-12 weeks to get in if I have to keep making the drive to Galena when I live in Dubuque I may look elsewhere for this care or look for another Dr there"

She kept things calm and I was appreciative of this because it is so difficult for me to go through. I even took some anxiety medication, and still was very anxious. I have never had an eye exam that lasted over 2 hours like this did. I did not feel some of the conversation between the receptionist and another person in the front office was inappropriate in front of a patient."

"My appointment was at 1110. While I was seen by the nurse right away for the initial exam, I waited for OVER 30 min to finally be seen by Dr Arensdorff. Then after his exam and he put the eye drops in, I waited again for at least another 20-25 min. I realize you need some time for the dilation to work but an eye appt from start to finish should take close to 2 hours, that is ridiculous."

While the staff said I would be able to drive myself, I would have preferred to be told about the dilation before the appointment so I could have planned for a ride and not to go back to work after since I couldn't read for the rest of the day. In a nutshell, it would be good to tell people that their eyes will be dilated when they make the appointment and provide context for what that means for their ability to work and safely drive the rest of the day."
