"Experience was good! I was seen very shortly after arrival and had testing done timely, got results that were clear and helpful. No clinical concerns. The only general feedback I would offer is finding a way to protect patient privacy ... sharing the reason for a visit during registration in a lobby where everyone is listening; and calling the patient's name to come forward with everyone in the waiting room hearing is an opportunity for improvement. It is not an unusual experience, and the physical layout makes options tough to identify. Perhaps offering the ability to watch programming on tvs as a distraction would help. Yesterday, some in the waiting room might have been interested in basketball. Thanks much for the service and for asking for feedback."

"The lab results are incredibly slow to come back, and nobody has contacted me to discuss them. My labs were turned in early Friday morning, and as of late Tuesday night, only a few results are posted on Patient Station. I did need to visit the ER over the weekend for dehydration treatment, and the ER doctor was able to see one of my lab results that still isn't posted on Patient Station as of now yet, over three whole days later. I'm on my 9th day of an extreme diarrhea illness; I visited acute care on day 4 and submitted stool samples on day 5 early morning. The lack of concern for my illness and its longevity, coupled with the lengthy lab turnaround time and/or Patient Station updating is inefficient."

"If this was the experience in the ER, you really get an F rating because the nurses, there was no staff. There were ambulances. They weren't swift to take care of anybody and it was the worst care that I've ever had in the ER and I finally walked out and left to go to my own private care primary physician. This was terrible and unforgivable. I don't care priority. It was just plain awful and I would never go back and I had terrible issues and they weren't taking care of anybody. A deplorable, no excuse. Terrible, terrible, terrible."

She did release me from work until the first but as I sit nothing has changed I would not be able to return due to heavy lifting steel toe shoes up and down stairs and on my feet for 9 hours a shift."

"I recently moved to Iowa and first encounter with MA Acute Care. At other facilities have always received an After Visit Summary/Discharge Instructions. As a nurse and thinking I was going to have follow up with Ortho soon, I did not ask alot of post joint injury care. Another person may really need paperwork and guidance to refer to. My follow up with Ortho is not until Jan. 19, five weeks later. I am frustrated with this. It doesn't seem ok for a person to have an acute injury and not have a full evaluation and diagnosis for five weeks."

There was quite a line forming by the time the pharmacy at the East Campus opened at 8am -- FYI The staff at the pharmacy were nice but it seems it would make sense for them to be open at least 30 minutes after the Acute Care department is open."

"I came in knowing I had covid and listed many (all?) of the symptoms. As a high risk (CHF) first time contraction of the virus, I was expecting more than I received: a covid swab confirming what I knew. When the call came in telling me I was positive, the person told me how expensive paxlovid is, but that was irrelevant because it's contraindicated with CHF. With all my symptoms, CHF and a 1st time positive result, I thought I should have received better advice than "watch for changes especially pneumonia." When I took my temp at 10:00 pm I had 103.8 temp and headed immediately to the emergency room where ungodly wait time caused me to detour to [REDACTED]. Why couldn't I have been admitted in timely manner at [REDACTED] and started the antibiotics and antiviral remdesivir a day sooner is my point. Eventually admitted to [REDACTED] with septic shock and dangerously low blood pressure. I admit that I probably didn't emphasize how bad I felt as I was learning how the infection caused cycles of highs and lows and I had hoped to gut it out and follow the wait and see advice I received."

"I have a herniated disc in my neck which I have a MRI on file for. I was experiencing a lot of pain which I have dealt with before and know it is temporary from when I get a muscle spasm in my neck. I was unable to get into a pcp so I came here as directed. This was not an emergency situation and I needed some kind of pain med or relief for a day or two. I never ask for pain meds and felt like I was stereotyped as a person who is an addict. I was told to go to the hospital if I am in that much pain. I never specified what I needed nor did it have to be something controlled. She never went over options for pain meds and just said she cant give them to me. I had to continue to advocate for myself to get my needs met. Then she said she would prescribe me tramadol, I did not even know what that was or why this was the best option for me as I was desperate for relief as I had already taken 800 mg of ibuprofen and a cyclobenzaprine which i am precribed and was still in pain. My neck was extremely bulging and swollen from the muscle spasm. I would have like this dr to be more compassionate and go over more options other than a steroid and a muscles relaxer and help me without making me feel like I need to go to the hospital for care and am a pill seeker. I am a 41 years old teacher with a good reputation in my community."

She sent me to [REDACTED] ER which was a blessing as Dr. Roling confirmed that I had diverticulitis that perpetrated and had I not come in when I did things could have turned much worse very quickly, I was admitted and given antibiotics and will need surgery when infection is completely healed, I would highly recommend this acute care doctor!"
