"I know mental health is in a crisis in America. I know providers are lacking. I know those in the field are overworked. I was referred to psychiatry in March - first appointment wasn't until April - I had to wait 5 weeks to switch up my meds. That's a long time, especially when you consider you need to give the meds 2-4 weeks to even begin working. At the end of that appt, I asked if needed a follow-up appt but was told I didn't. I found that a bit disconcerting but my PCP said my issues were beyond her expertise at this point so I didn't really have an option as I needed someone to manage my medication. I worked through some med management via the patient portal. At a completely different appt, I was crying nonstop in her office for 45 minutes. She asked when my next follow up was. I told her I didn't have one and she found that very odd as well. I eventually called for an appt in June and the first opening wasn't until August. No blame on the provider, just frustrated that when help is needed, it's not readily available. After this appt was scheduled, I sat tight and patiently waited for the day to come. However, during a moment of emotional distress, I gave a negative survey to another doctor so a nurse reached out to me the following day. During that phone call, I cried often and told her all of my feelings and frustrations at the time. She then reached out to several departments on my behalf - psychiatry being one of them. Jenna's nurse sent me a note via the patient portal requesting a zoom appt. I declined as I much prefer face to face appts, my only availability was during my lunch break but it's only 30 minutes and still would need to eat. The final and most important reason I declined was because I knew I'd be in tears again and then have to return to work immediately - I couldn't be in that state of mind at work - especially after I'd already been talked to about controlling my emotions at work. In my opinion, the nurse was rather rude and somewhat insisted I do the zoom. I reiterated that I did not want to so she finally accepted that but made a point to tell me my appt (this one) was strictly 15 minutes, Jenna is very busy, and booked back to back so we'll only be able to go over my medications. I was fully aware of what this appt was for but felt like a small child having to be told the same thing over and over by the nurse. I was less than impressed with her. So.. I have the appt yesterday, we discuss my meds and how I'm feeling with them. I thought the appt went fine and I really do like Jenna. I also appreciate that she thoroughly likes and trusts my psychologist - it definitely makes having providers in different clinics easier to navigate when each Dr knows and trusts the other. I appreciated that she read up on my notes before my visit and could actively have a conversation with me. The only thing that frustrated me yesterday was, again, not having a follow-up scheduled. I completely understand she is busy, as is t [Truncated]"
