"Getting an appointment: My appointment was made 12 months in advance , after my last appointment in 2025 My Dr read the previous Opthalamlogists notes, and commented on his observations. There has been a change in how the visit works , with prelinminary eye testing done by another staff , then the Dr's exam with a stenographer documenting the findings. It seems quite efficient."

Doctor Auer noticed a change and referred me to Doctor Peracha, a retinal specialist, for his opinion. I got an appointment on May 11th and will see Dr Auer in a year. I am very pleased with the care I get in the ophthalmology department. In addition, I dropped off a note for Deb in regard to information on my wife's behalf that had to be sent to the Iowa Department of the blind. Deb forwarded the info and contacted my wife to let her know it was sent all before I got home from my appointment. I can't say enough about how well we have been treated by Ophthamolgy Department."

"I called about about a month and a half ago to reschedule this appt due to having to work this day. I was told they couldn't get me in for 1 YEAR. I told them that I had never seen this provider before and didn't care who I saw, but she said it would be 1 year. I kept the appointment as scheduled. I was not happy with the tech when she put me in the room. I mentioned that I wanted to have them put the drops in my eyes when I was done so I could go back to work after the appt. The tech said they didn't have any. I told her I had spoken with the Supervisor of the department and he said they did. She left and found some. All worked out OK but was disappointed in the way nobody was willing to work with me. Other than that the appt was great. Dr Auer was wonderful. I would highly recommend him!"

"Dr Auer is an exceptional eye doctor. The very first time I met him, he found my optic nerves to be swollen & he took swift action to find the cause & treat the issue. At my most recent visit, he was confounded as to why my vision would have changed so drastically when the optic nerves were flattened again & I passed my field vision test. He asked my permission to speak with a colleague about my case. I have no issue with him seeking a second opinion. He laid out some various treatment options going foward, including a referral to UIHC neuro-ophthalmology department, but also said he'd confer with my local neurologist as well. I've been nothing but pleased with the care & compassion he has shown as well as his desire to dig deep into my case & figure out root cause rather than just "cover it with a band-aid" per se. 5 stars from me & always will recommend him to anyone looking for an eye doctor."

"Please invest in new, ADJUSTABLE exam chairs. I am short. My feet cannot reach the foot rest. I had to sit forward on the edge of the seat and uncomfortably stretch my lower back during the exam to reach the phoropter to be able to read the letters on the Snellen chart. It was NOT the fault of the person giving the test. The chair should be upgraded to allow the exam be pain free for short people."
