Amber received her Bachelor's degree in Biology in 2008 and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2010 from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa.  She has been with Medical Associates since graduating in 2010.

Amber earned her certification in the McKenzie Method for Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy for the spine and extremities in 2022. She has been certified in LSVT BIG for treatment of patients with Parkinson's disease since 2015.  Amber has taken additional courses on treatment of pediatric, pregnant, post-partum, and women's incontinence.  She is also certified in Astym, a method using tools for soft tissue mobilization, and blood flow restriction training (BFR) since 2020.  

Amber enjoys being with her family, playing volleyball, golf, and traveling.  She grew up in Southeast Minnesota. She currently lives in Peosta, Iowa, with her husband and two children.

"The provider and technician were excellent. It seemed like the provider felt rushed but was also still dedicated to making sure my appointment was thorough. Maybe appointments should be scheduled for more time to give providers more time. The front desk staff were very loud and talkative while I was in the waiting area I was glad to not have to interact with them except for to schedule my appointment. Even then, they were unnecessarily loud and acted as if I was bothering them by needing to make an appointment."

"I've come into physical therapy medical for many years, for over 25 years. And I have had the opportunity to work with Amber Stephan multiple times. And still, probably more than ever. She just continues to get better and better. She's fantastic about finding out what's really going on. She has a ton of questions. She listens really carefully. She's obviously super knowledgeable and she's excellent to work with. Yeah, it's just, she's the best."

"The therapy session itself went well. When I was leaving, the therapist put a sheet of paper of my instructions on the chair and left. Part of the instructions were for me to get exercises through a barcode. I don't have a barcode on my phone, so I'm unable to do those instructions, and that was disappointing that I couldn't talk to her about that. That's it. Thank you."

"A general complaint. Young girls-not my therapist-need to SPEAK UP. The girl who first interviewed me after checking in was very soft spoken. I had to ask her 3x to repeat what she asked. I know I am older and losing my hearing, but she should be aware of this."
