The Medical Associates Department of Internal Medicine provides
an internist who subspecializes in Pulmonology, the field of medicine
related to lung disease.
Our pulmonologist has a special interest in all areas of diseases
of the chest and lungs, including evaluation of asthma, emphysema,
chronic obstructive lung disease, chronic bronchitis, interstitial
diseases of the lung, cough, shortness of breath, pulmonary hypertension,
pleural diseases, assistance with oxygen supplementation, evaluation
of abnormal chest x-rays, and pulmonary rehabilitation. Pulmonary
rehabilitation is available in cooperation with Mercy Health Center.
Inpatient and critical care management is also available.
Complete evaluation of the chest is available including bronchoscopy,
pleural biopsy, thoracentesis, chest x-ray, CT examination, pulmonary
function testing, and cardiopulmonary stress testing with metabolic
cart.
Dr. Janes has an interest in disorders of sleep such as sleep apnea.
Examination of abnormalities of sleep is available with overnight
trend oximetry and polysomnography. Transtracheal oxygen catheter
placement is also available as an alternative to standard nasal
cannula use for oxygen supplementation.
