Pediatric Psychology
for Children & Adolescents

Both Dr. Gould and Dr. Huettner are doctoral level Pediatric Psychologists
who are listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers
in Psychology.
The Pediatric Psychology Department of Medical Associates Clinic
in Dubuque functions as a subdivision of the Department of Pediatrics.
Services
The following types of treatment and services are made available
by the Pediatric Psychology staff:
- Individual child counseling, therapy, and intervention
- Family counseling, therapy, and intervention
- Formal psychological evaluation and testing, including:
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Autism spectrum disorders
- emotional and psychological problems in children and teens
- cognitive and neurocognitive abilities in children and teens
- academic skills
- possible learning disabilities, including dyslexia, in children, adolescents,
and adults
- Consultation
- Education and training
Ages Served
Dr. Gould and Dr. Huettner treat children from birth through high
school years and young adults.
Types of Problems Evaluated and Treated
- Adolescent adjustment
- Asperger's Disorder
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Autism
- Behavioral/conduct concerns
- Delinquent behavior
- Development delays or problems
- Divorce adjustment
- Eating disorders and concerns
- Emotional reactions including:
- anger management problems
- anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder
- bipolar disorder
- depression
- fears and phobias
- grief
- suicidal feelings
- Learning difficulties, including nonverbal learning disability
- Family difficulties such as adjustment to a move, new baby,
remarriage, sibling rivalry, communication breakdown, and family
conflict
- Parenting issues and challenges
- Psychological problems associated with physical conditions such
as asthma, abdominal pain, arthritis, cancer, convulsive disorders,
diabetes, and headaches
- Reaction to trauma, including abuse
- Selective mutism
- School avoidance
- Sleep disturbance
- Social/friendship problems
- Toileting concerns
Referrals
Patients may be referred to the Pediatric Psychology Department
by physicians, school, community agency, and/or other mental health
professionals. Parents are also welcome to seek treatment for their children
on their own.
Appointments
Appointments may be scheduled by calling 563-584-3441 or 800-648-6868. There is a $25 charge for missed appointments or appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance.
Hours
Monday-Friday: 8 am - 6 pm
Saturdays: 8 am - 12 noon
Evenings by arrangement with the therapist
Location
The Pediatric Psychology staff provides outpatient services at their
office located in the Pediatric/Adolescent Medicine Department of
Medical Associates Clinic - East Campus.
Fees & Reimbursement
We accept private pay, third party (insurance) reimbursement, or
Title 19 patients referred by a Medical Associates provider. Patients
are encouraged to check with their insurance company about their
coverage for child mental health services. Please contact Medical
